Meet the Maker
Hallooo! I’m Amber, the neuro-sparkly Needlewitch behind Dandy & Rebel and Rogue Stitchcraft Academy. I’m a trained costume maker with a First-Class Honours degree in Costume Construction, and a deep love for sharp tailoring, classic couture, and gender-inclusive design. Clothing has often felt limiting to me, sorting people into categories instead of letting them show who they are. Well, that didn’t work for me, and this personal journey fuels my passion for creating inclusive designs, because why shouldn’t you feel comfortable and confidence in what you wear?
I fell in love with tailoring in the first year of my degree, and it became more than a hyper fixation! Somewhere between my various fittings and late-night historical pattern drafting, the penny dropped: if I can make costumes fit people, I could also help them feel comfortable and confident in what they wear. When a new client works with me, we go on a journey of co-creation and personalisation. Through discussions, fittings, and adjustments, I work with you to make sure not only does your piece fit perfectly, but that it also tells your story. It’s about creating garments that are truly yours, making you feel seen.
Now I use those skills to create garments that affirm, celebrate, and fit. I make items for trans folx, non-binary individuals, neurodivergent bodies, and anyone tired of fashion that decides who you are before you even button yourself up. To ensure every client feels safe and supported, I offer personalised consultations where we discuss individual needs and preferences.
This is not fast fashion. At Dandy & Rebel, I focus on thoughtful tailoring, offering custom suits, gorgeous gowns, tailored coats, period costumes, and personalised alterations. Each piece is designed to fit your budget, and affirm your identity, with attention to fit for every body.
Freelance Costume Work
In addition to my work with Dandy & Rebel, I undertake freelance costume projects. I specialise in historical silhouettes, bespoke tailoring, and character-driven design for theatre, drag, performance, and private clients.
Whether I am making hand-sewn stays or creating stage-ready garments with a designer touch, I bring research, craftsmanship, and a love of storytelling to every commission.
If you are looking for a skilled costume maker with lived experience, queer sensitivity, and a strong attention to detail, I would love to hear from you.
🎭 Available for freelance costume work; pattern drafting, cutting, making, and historical builds.
