Orange Is the New Bold: Embracing My Signature Colour
Oooh hello again - I’m back, juggling too many hats, spilling actual tea, and still very much committed to orange. A few years ago, if you’d asked about my signature colour, I would have said black. Maybe dark grey on a bold day. Now, though, it’s orange. Bright, playful, and a little weird. Plus if it clashes like a bitch, I’m here for it!
Why orange?
For starters, it’s warm and bold, and it gives me the main character energy I used to pretend to have. It’s the colour of pumpkins, marigolds, autumn leaves, sunsets that don’t follow the rules, and that awkward stage in dyeing fabric when it looks like a mistake but somehow works out.
But more than that, orange feels like a small rebellion. It’s a pushback against playing small, against feeling like I have to tone myself down, and against the idea that only neutral colours are serious.
I’ll choose orange over beige every time.
A neurodivergent glow-up
Embracing orange has helped me appreciate the parts of myself I used to hide, especially being neurodivergent. I used to think I had to shrink to fit in, to be quieter and easier to handle. Now, I let myself be bright, bold, and maybe a little much.
It turns out that being “too much” is actually just being enough for the right people.
Dandy & Rebel in Technicolour
You’ll notice more orange showing up at Dandy & Rebel, in linings, labels, packaging, and sometimes as a statement piece. It works well with my favourite blues and pinks, and adds a bit of mischief to the mix. So long live the orange! Colour of courage, creativity, and a bit of chaos. It’s not just a colour for me now. It’s a mood. Maybe even a lifestyle.
Maybe I’m just an orange cat in a good disguise lol. Nah let’s face it, I am pumpkin spice! Sweet, spicy, sometimes a lot, and best enjoyed in generous amounts. You might spot me out there, leaning into the pumpkin theme and gathering compliments from crows.
Love always,
